Harrison Ford, the legendary actor known for his stoic demeanor and iconic roles, has finally admitted that the iconic short-shorts he sported in the 1982 sci-fi masterpiece “Blade Runner” make him feel, well, a little sick.
In a recent interview, the 80-year-old actor revealed his unexpected aversion to his most famous sartorial choice. “Let’s just say, I don’t look back on those shorts with any fondness,” Ford confessed. “Seeing them now makes me feel a little ill, actually.”
The revelation comes as a surprise to many fans who remember Ford’s iconic portrayal of Rick Deckard, the blade runner tasked with hunting down rogue androids. His rugged, leather-clad look, including those infamous “short-shorts,” has been hailed as a defining image of the 1980s and a staple of sci-fi fashion.
While the shorts were a hit with audiences, it seems Ford wasn’t as enthused. He explained, “The director [Ridley Scott] had a vision for the character, and those shorts were part of it. But I’m not sure I ever truly understood the appeal.”
Despite his current discomfort with the iconic shorts, Ford acknowledges their impact on pop culture. “They’ve become synonymous with the film, which is fine,” he said. “But I’m happy to leave them in the past.”
Whether it’s the tight fit, the short length, or simply the passage of time, Ford’s confession reminds us that even the most iconic fashion choices can sometimes have a dark side, even for a Hollywood legend.
